ACCESSIBILITY & DISABILITY
Accessibility is part of radical belonging. And we take belonging seriously at TBC. We’re committed to creating a space with and for the disability community. We embrace accessibility as a way of living out our Values in a Jesus and justice-centered way.
If you want to share more about your own access needs or to request a specific accessibility accommodation, please contact Charlie boardpresident@thebelongcollective.org
These are some of our accessibility features and practices:
Physical Accessibility
Our current space is very physically accessible because of the type of building we rent. We provide two accessible parking spots out front when we gather. Two ramps make the space accessible. Our actual worshipping space is flexible and can be arranged to accommodate various needs. Our bathrooms also include accessible stalls. However, we can always do better, so please let us know how we can create a better space for all who visit us.
Sensory Accessibility
In an effort to be welcoming to those with disabilities that may not be apparent, we are committed to creating a space that allows those with sensory, developmental, and psychiatric disabilities to feel included and embraced by our community. Review our 'Know Before You Go' guide, which uses imagery and brief descriptions to welcome individuals on the autism spectrum and those with other sensory processing disabilities. We provide a sensory-item basket and creativity table for those who don’t always feel comfortable sitting still. We are a #StigmaFree faith community that invites you to bring your full self into our space. Bring on those mental health concerns, autism expressions, and other invisible disabilities; we’re here for you to feel like you belong.
Deaf/Hearing Loss Access
If you require American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation to join us, please email boardpresident@thebelongcollective.org with as much notice as possible, so we can arrange for interpreters to be present. We are committed to making our gatherings accessible for those with hearing loss.
Blind/Low-Vision Access
Welcoming blind/low-vision folks is a commitment of ours as we learn to provide more image and audio description services whenever we gather and when we communicate on our socials and website.
